Nostalgic Garden of Raident
Blooms
Nostalgic Garden of Radiant Blooms is an exploration of beautiful, rich floral motifs inspired by Singleton Botanical Gardens. The flowers I have chosen are vibrant in colour; rich tones of red, orange and purple create a vivid dreamlike palette and lively atmosphere.
The material I’ve chosen to explore and experiment with is silk, which has a light airy quality allowing it to change its form and adapt to different environments. Light shines through the fibres, enhancing the colours opulent radiance. Silk is a long-lasting material but is also biodegradable. I enjoyed drawing the motifs from life and capturing the energetic yet fleeting moment in time. The hand-drawn motifs have been taken into digital, combining both processes. The narrative encapsulates the joy of experiencing colour as a child, the nostalgia of endless summers and reconnecting to nature.
